Especially when you add to this the fact that the only noise you hear here is not the noise of city traffic, but the chirping of birds.<\/p>\n<p>It really gives us a <strong>chance to relax<\/strong>, to take our minds off our <strong>worries<\/strong>, and to reflect on our current <strong>life situation<\/strong> with a bit of outside perspective.<\/p>\n<p>All this is absolutely doable on your own, but it&#8217;s also a perfect family activity &#8211; but couples or groups of friends can also spend a great time in M\u00e1traf\u00fcred (even just for a relaxing long weekend).<\/p>\n<p>The landscape of <strong>Matrafured<\/strong> is beautiful at any time of the year, with colourful leaves in <strong>autumn<\/strong> and snow-white scenery in <strong>winter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In the summer<\/strong>, during the heatwave, it is also a pleasant way to relax, as the climate is much cooler than the hot concrete in the cities.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Attractions, programmes, curiosities<\/h3>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you want to do something other than <strong>hiking<\/strong>, there are <strong>plenty of ways<\/strong> to spend your free time in a <strong>useful<\/strong> and pleasant way.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gyongyos-matra.hu\/en\/ajanlo-en\/kozmary-kilato\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>The Kozm\u00e1ry Lookout<\/strong><\/a>, located near M\u00e1traf\u00fcred, was built in 1900 and stands more than <strong>370 metres high<\/strong> on the Dobog\u00f3 Stone hill. The material of the collection has been built up since 1945, and the old embroideries, home textiles and costume pieces were bought piece by piece, travelling around <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/kirandulastippek.hu\/palocfold?page=3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pal\u00f3cland<\/a><\/strong>.The exhibition&#8217;s location changed several times, but finally, since 1996, it has been on permanent display in the old primary school in M\u00e1traf\u00fcred. An interesting feature of &#8220;Palocland&#8221; is that traditionally <strong>almost every village or group<\/strong> of villages has its own separate costume. The 30 dolls, dressed in folk costumes, present this diversity, all reflecting the old peasant way of life.A different collection of dolls is intended to present the historical costumes of Hungary, introducing visitors to the Hungarian noble and bourgeois dress culture from the Middle Ages to the early 1900s. Medieval royal couples, Gothic and Renaissance ladies, late Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo couples.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<blockquote><p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/varak.hu\/latnivalo\/index\/286-Matrafured-Muzslateto\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Muzsla-roof<\/strong><\/a> fortressis a fortress in the M\u00e1tra, an early <strong>\u00c1rp\u00e1d-era building.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Benevar is located between the Somor and Csatorna streams, at an altitude of about 470 metres. According to the legends, at the time of the <a href=\"https:\/\/hu.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Honfoglal%C3%A1s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">conquest of Hungary<\/a>, he donated a large piece of land in the woods of the M\u00e1tra <strong>to one of \u00c1rp\u00e1d&#8217;s<\/strong> leaders, <strong>Ed\u00f6m\u00e9r<\/strong>. Destroyed during the Tartar invasion, the rebuilt castle was the seat of the Aba clan, but became the property of King Matthew Cs\u00e1k and later King Sigismund, until it was finally destroyed by the Hussites. <strong>In the 1980s,<\/strong> archaeological excavations were carried out and the remains of the castle, which was in a state of continuous decay, were added to.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A <a href=\"https:\/\/hu.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/S%C3%A1st%C3%B3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>S\u00e1st\u00f3<\/strong><\/a> Magyarorsz\u00e1g legmagasabban fekv\u0151 tava (tengerszint feletti magass\u00e1ga<strong> 507 m\u00e9ter<\/strong>), amely kiv\u00e1l\u00f3 cs\u00f3nak\u00e1z\u00f3- \u00e9s horg\u00e1szhely. From the cable car you can see S\u00e1st\u00f3, Gy\u00f6ngy\u00f6s, and on a clear day even the Alf\u00f6ld or the mountains around the capital.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For those looking for a similarly active and exciting programme, there is also a bobsleigh track and a toboggan run.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The famous <a href=\"https:\/\/kekesteto.hu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">K\u00e9kes<\/a>, the highest mountain peak in Hungary,<\/strong> is located near M\u00e1traf\u00fcred. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Accessibility, transport<\/h3>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An advantageous aspect, which is also in favour of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mtaudulok.hu\/matrafured-hotel-akademia\/\"><strong>Matrafured<\/strong><\/a>, is the easy accessibility, which helps a lot when looking for the ideal place for a little inland tourism and recreation.<\/p>\n<p>Matrafured lies on the south side of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mme.hu\/matra-hegyseg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>M\u00e1tra Mountains<\/strong><\/a>, at the south-western foot of the K\u00e9kes block, at an altitude of 320-390 metres above sea level, on the banks of the Bene stream, between Gy\u00f6ngy\u00f6s and M\u00e1trah\u00e1za. <strong>The easiest way to reach<\/strong> it is by the main road 24, but it can also be reached by small railway.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lookouts<\/strong> have been built on the ridges above Bene, and <strong>shelters<\/strong> and resting places in the valleys.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>It is interesting that already in 1908 the Gy\u00f6ngy\u00f6s-Par\u00e1d wagon road was built.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kisvasut.hu\/index.php?rfa=159\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>The Gy\u00f6ngy\u00f6s State Forest<\/strong><\/a> Railway, or more commonly known as the <strong>M\u00e1tra Railway,<\/strong> is a forest railway running along the southern side of the M\u00e1tra Mountains. Its special feature is that it is the last narrow-gauge railway in Hungary to provide regular passenger services on two lines.<\/p>\n<p>From the train you have a 22-minute ride with a beautiful view of the M\u00e1tra Mountains towards the b\u00e9rce mountains.
