Erdotarcsa Academic Resort and Creative House of the Hungarian Academy of Science
About 50 km from Budapest, on the border of three counties, Nógrád, Pest, and Heves, in Nógrád County, in the Pásztó sub-region, in the valley of the Ilka stream (Tarcsai stream) lies Erdőtarcsa (formerly Erdős-Tartsa). It was named after the village of Erdei, to distinguish it from Tartsa, another village not far from it in Pest county. Today, however, there is no contiguous forest area in the municipality. A peaceful, quiet environment and clean air are the hallmarks of the village atmosphere.
In the past, the vernacular called Erdőtarcsa a “castle” village, as there are several castles and mansions in this small village, which are now monuments. The baroque-style Szent – Miklóssy – Kubinyi Castle, built in 1870, is today the residence and creative house of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, situated in a well-kept, 3-acres enclosed park. The castle was built by the Szentmiklóssy family of Gomor in the 18th century. century (sometime between 1750 and 1770).
The baroque style building was probably designed by András Mayerhoffer, who also designed Antal Grassalkovich’s castle in Gödöllő. The castle was last occupied by the Kubinyi family, then after the Second World War it was used as the village school. The building was restored by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences as a rest and creative house; its rooms are furnished with period furniture.
The castle park of the Erdotarcsa Academic Holiday and Creation House is surrounded by a cosy walking path with rose garden, fountain and garden pond. We recommend our resort for guests who prefer a demanding environment, quiet, relaxation, family hospitality.

EVENT
The restaurant of the Erdotarcsai Academic Resort and Creative House can accommodate up to ten people. It is an excellent venue for family events (weddings, christenings, graduation dinners, banquets, anniversaries, birthdays).
It is also possible to hold a civil ceremony in an idyllic setting.
We have a function room with a capacity of 25 peoplefor business events. From spring to autumn, guests can enjoy a cosy terrace with direct access to the garden.
GASTRONOMY
The restaurant of the Erdőtarcsai Academic Resort and Creative House offers home-style cooking, local and international dishes, breakfast buffets and a choice of main meals.
We try to meet all your needs with a rich buffet breakfast – a variety of coffees, teas, juices, muesli, yoghurts, jams, cold cuts, hot breakfasts such as scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, sausages and other delicacies to ensure that our guests get the day off to a good start.

GUEST GUIDE
- Arriving guests canreserve their rooms from 14:00 on the day of arrival. The minimum age to register is 18 years.
- Eligibility for discounts must be verified on request. In the case of a legal obligation, proof of entitlement to accommodation must also be provided (certificate of immunity).
- Rooms must be vacated by 10.00 on the lastday of the stay at the latest. The bill (accommodation and meals) is settled on arrival. Payment can be made by cash, credit card or SZÉP card.
- Rooms cannot accommodate extrabeds and baby cots are not available.
- Guests will receive the room key after filling in the registration form. In case of loss or damage of the key, the Guest is fully liable. Please return the key to reception on the day of your return.

Dinner: between 18.00 - 19.00 - Please keep to the appointments!
- From the "A" and "B" menus shown on the menu, the Guest can make his choice of the next day's menu from the day of arrival until the time of dinner. The daily menu of your arrival will be sent to you by e-mail a few days before your arrival.
- Please inform the resort manager in good time of any meal-related requests or comments you may have. We also try to meet the specific needs of our guests who follow a vegetarian diet, but we cannot cater for other special dietary requirements. The breakfast buffet is served in the restaurant and you are not allowed to take anything from the breakfast buffet out of the restaurant.
- Only the parent has custody of the minor childduring the stay. Recreational facilities in the resort area are available for underage children only with parental supervision. Any necessary accessories are provided and can be requested at reception. Minors are not allowed to stay in the resort without supervision.
- Visitors may be admitted by prior arrangement with the resort manager, if the capacity of the resort allows. Guests can stay in the resort until 22:00.
- Towels in the rooms are changed every 3 days by the staff or before the guest arrives. Otherwise, an extra cleaning fee will be charged. Bed linen is changed before the arrival of the guest and weekly for longer stays.
- Please use the premises, equipment and furnishings of the Erdőtarcsai Academic Holiday and Creative Housefor their intended purpose. The Guest is liable for damages caused by misuse or negligence.
- It is forbidden to make coffeeor heat food in the rooms due to fire and public health reasons.
- All Guests are required to comply with fire and accident prevention rules. Smoking is allowed only in the designated smoking area, which is indicated on signs in the courtyard. Smoking is prohibited inside the buildings, including the rooms!
- If you have any complaints or other comments, or if you notice an incident or danger, please report it to the reception.
- Please observe the rules for pets brought into the premises ofthe Erdotarcsai Academic Holidayand Creation House!
- The pool is openduring the summer from 8:00-20:00. During the night, the pool is treated with chemicals, and its use is FORBIDDEN! The pool is for children under 16 years of age only with parental supervision. Additional rules for using the pool are posted at the swimming area.
- Bathrobes are available on request.
- Finnish saunafrom 8:00-18:00. Capacity 3 persons. The time needed to warm up is 30 minutes. Claims are taken on a first come, first served basis. Bathrobes are not provided. Large bath towels are available as an extra.
- Due to the age of the "ancient trees" in the 3-hectare park belonging to the Erdotarcsa Academic Resort and Creative House, please avoid staying under them and packing your car during heavy rain or stormy winds to avoid accidents caused by withered branches.
- We are not responsible for any valuables brought into the grounds of the Erdotarcsa Academic Resort and Creative House. This also applies to vehicles brought into the Resort. A car is only allowed in the resort with special permission, as it is not available for all holidaymakers. The car park is not guarded.
