Erdotarcsa Castle Pension of the Hungarian Academy of Science
About 50 km from Budapest, on the border of three counties, Nógrád, Pest, and Heves, in Nógrád County, in the Pásztó sub-region, in the valley of the Ilka stream (Tarcsai stream) lies Erdőtarcsa (formerly Erdős-Tartsa). It was named after the village of Erdei, to distinguish it from Tartsa, another village not far from it in Pest county. Today, however, there is no contiguous forest area in the municipality. A peaceful, quiet environment and clean air are the hallmarks of the village atmosphere.
In the past, the vernacular called Erdőtarcsa a “castle” village, as there are several castles and mansions in this small village, which are now monuments. The baroque-style Szent – Miklóssy – Kubinyi Castle, built in 1870, is today the residence and creative house of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, situated in a well-kept, 3-acres enclosed park. The castle was built by the Szentmiklóssy family of Gomor in the 18th century. century (sometime between 1750 and 1770).
The baroque style building was probably designed by András Mayerhoffer, who also designed Antal Grassalkovich’s castle in Gödöllő. The castle was last occupied by the Kubinyi family, then after the Second World War it was used as the village school. The building was restored by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences as a rest and creative house; its rooms are furnished with period furniture.

EVENT
The restaurant of the Erdotarcsa Castle Pesion can accommodate up to 30 people. It is an excellent venue for family events (weddings, christenings, graduation dinners, banquets, anniversaries, birthdays).
It is also possible to hold a civil ceremony in an idyllic setting.
We have a function room with a capacity of 10-50 people for business events. From spring to autumn, guests can enjoy a cosy terrace with direct access to the garden.
GASTRONOMY
The restaurant of the Erdotarcsa Castle Pension offers home-style cooking, local and international dishes, breakfast buffets and a choice of main meals.
We try to meet all your needs with a rich buffet breakfast – a variety of coffees, teas, juices, muesli, yoghurts, jams, cold cuts, hot breakfasts such as scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, sausages and other delicacies to ensure that our guests get the day off to a good start.

- AIR CONDITIONING: The thermostat on the wall also controls the cooling function.
- BABY COT: A baby cot is available free of charge for children under 3 years old. Please inform the reception staff if you would like to request one.

- REFRIGERATOR: A refrigerator is available in the rooms. Upon request, we can stock it with beverages from our selection at restaurant prices.
- RESTAURANT: For any meal-related requests or feedback, please contact the reception. We do our best to accommodate vegetarian guests, but unfortunately cannot fulfill other special dietary needs. Lunch is served between 12:30 and 13:30, and dinner between 18:00 and 19:00. If you wish to dine outside of these hours, please notify the reception in advance.
- ROOM CLEANING & LINEN CHANGE:: Our housekeeping staff cleans the rooms daily in the morning. Bed linen is changed every 3 days. If you require additional textile changes, please notify the reception.
- SAFE: A safe is available in each room to securely store your valuables.
- SAUNA: The Finnish sauna, located on the second floor, can be used upon prior request and accommodates up to 3 people. Heating time is approximately 30 minutes. Usage is based on reservation order.
- SEWING KIT: Available free of charge at the reception.
- SHOE CLEANING: Shoe care kits are available free of charge at the reception.
- SMOKING: Smoking is strictly prohibited throughout the hotel. It is only permitted in designated smoking areas.
